NEN 818 - Lifting appliances and slings

The Working Conditions Act stipulates that employers must enable their employees to work safely. The standards specifying what is meant by working safely with lifting equipment are set out in the NEN-EN 818 standard and lifting belts in the NEN-EN 1492 standard.

Besides the responsibility you have as an employer for your employees, you are also (personally) legally liable for the consequences of accidents - with or without permanent injury. In addition, many insurance companies require in their policy conditions that company equipment be inspected periodically.

The NEN-EN 818 and NEN-EN 1492 inspections are required by law and must be carried out periodically. A risk analysis determines the interval. As a rule, hoisting equipment should be inspected annually. In addition to the annual visual inspection, lifting equipment must be tested at least once every 5 years.

Working method of INSPERRO:

Each lifting equipment is visually inspected for defects at your premises or ours. The inspected hoisting equipment is labelled and provided with an inspection sticker showing the date up to which the hoisting equipment has been inspected. You then receive a digital overview list of all inspected hoisting equipment in PDF format and a certificate for each individual item of hoisting equipment.
